PRIMARY PURPOSE
Executive specified craft in the performance of general maintenance and repair of
building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems
throughout the district. Assist with maintenance of grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver's license
Proficient in the performance and/or certified in the given trade: carpenter, electrician,
plumber, painter, etc.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures (basic
carpentry, HVAC, electricity, plumbing, etc.)
Must be dependable and punctual
Must possess the ability to properly lift, from floor to shoulder level and carry at least 80
pounds.
Ability to operate hand and power tools
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to work independently
Experience:
One year's experience in general building maintenance
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Facilities Maintenance and Repair and Inspection:
1. Repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing
woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and
replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
2. Recommend materials and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
3. Detect needed repairs on building, grounds, and equipment by following established
inspection procedures.
4. Maintain accurate records on materials and labor used.
5. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials.
6. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
7. Work with building Lead Technician and Facilities director to complete projects.
8. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
9. Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform
maintenance and minor repairs.
10. Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems,
including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
11. Complete repairs as requested on work orders or by maintenance lead man.
12. Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds.
13. Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, etc.
14. Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as
needed.
15. Hang pictures, mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boars, projection screens, towel
dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as required.
16. Install door and window assemblies and hardware, including window glass and
screens.
17. Install ceiling and flooring materials.
18. Operate light truck to transport furniture and equipment throughout district.
19. Must attend all safety meetings.
20. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
21. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including
lifting, climbing, etc.
22. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not
correctable to supervisor immediately.
23. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
24. Report to the supervisor promptly any accident or illness of staff or students.
25. Other duties as assigned by administration.
26. Promote, participate, and facilitate in a teamwork center manner.
