Primary Purpose: The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the technology operations at assigned campuses, providing advanced technical support, and leading a team of technicians. This role involves managing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software systems, ensuring optimal performance of technology resources across the district.

 

Qualifications:

• Education/Certification: preferred.
• Associate’s degree or relevant certifications in technology fields are preferred. 
• Special Knowledge/Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, and network systems (LAN, WLAN, WAN).
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Ability to manage budgets and personnel effectively.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with educational technology and instructional settings.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical support, network maintenance, or a related field, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Technical Support:
• Provide advanced technical assistance and training to campus faculty and staff on the use of technology equipment.
• Respond to and resolve complex technology issues in a timely manner.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of computers in labs and classrooms.

 

• Team Leadership:

 

• Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of campus technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Coordinate the distribution of technology materials and resources for classroom use.

 

• Technology Management:

 

• Analyze and implement technology solutions to meet the needs of schools and administrative departments.
• Develop and maintain standards for hardware and software use across the district.
• Manage the installation, testing, and oversight of network hardware and software.

 

• Inventory and Budget Management:

 

• Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and technology resources at assigned campuses.
• Assist in the development and administration of the technology budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

 

• Policy and Compliance:

 

• Implement policies established by federal and state law, as well as local board policy, in the area of information management and technology.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and emergency procedures.

 

• Network Management:

 

• Identify, request, and control the inventory of repair parts and technology supplies.
• Assist with the installation and testing of network hardware, software, and upgrades, identifying and resolving issues as they arise.

 

• User Support and Training:

 

• Provide training and support for end-users on various technology systems, including VOIP and video surveillance systems.
• Manage user access, permissions, and roles to prevent unauthorized access to network resources.
